Looking at the parts breakdown on rock auto and that number doesn't come up at all and they are about £30... I'm assuming this is for the LHD model though?
What's the chances of a heater motor being only suitable for a RHD?

[Snip]

I'm not the one doing the work on it....
Short story - he's humped.

Yes, the RHD motor is umpteen times more expensive.

It would appear that the blower box is a mirror image between LHD and RHD cars, hence the motor spinning the opposite direction and the hamster wheel vanes being reversed too.

So unless you want to get involved and start fannying around with the motor bearings, etc. then there's not a lot you can do.
There's one ray of hope in the last post of the second thread Valeo part number, 698452

Just double check the numbers and vane direction.

Oh and the seller is one of a great bunch of lads. (not that it makes much difference, my Honda's central locking actuator hasn't gone up in smoke.... yet)

I could do with an answer to this question because I'm beginning to doubt my own memory.

We all know that the Mini went through several updates before 1970 improving things like the gearchange. I'm 90% certain that during my auction jockey days I drove an H plate Clubman around the auction block that had the early "magic wand" gear lever, not the Mk1 straight lever but the later one that was bent upwards. Was this standard fitment to early Clubmans or was it just a botch job caused by transplanting an earlier engine and box into a Clubman?

Botch job possibly, or giffer mod.

By that time they were well into making those A series lumps with the sandwich plate remote change.

However, having looked it up, that doesn't appear to include '70-'72 848cc models.
