The rear wheel trims have always looked a bit sorry for themselves, so I started to make good today because the first thing arrived in the mail.
Phil
Removed the paint. You can see the original red lacquer underneath, faded to pale brown.
Cleaned all that off, because there was something to protect it the metal is in really nice shape.
Masked up.
All pretty now.
Typically this is as much as you'll ever see of them.
I'll cut and polish them in a few weeks when the paint is fully hardened.Phil

Changed the dash lights. Was aiming for turquoise. Got Cherenkov. Not sold on it yet.

Too blue M8.....! Actually, I do like the clock that colour.
One of the nice things about the Cowley is that there is an incredibly fiddly little miniature festoon bulb over the ignition keyhole which comes on with the sidelights. It sits behind a piece of green mica so you get a ghostly glow guiding you with the key.
I took great pains to get that working before I even set about anything else on the car.

Does the battery live in the boot? Just wondering if a battery vent drain to outside would be a good idea for it. Those vented vapours have a nasty effect of rotting out closed spaces.

Yup, the keyhole glows in mine. It is a nice touch.mercrocker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 7:17 am Too blue M8.....! Actually, I do like the clock that colour.

It's in the to-do list. The previous battery vented through the caps; this one has s pair of vent holes. I need to get some elbows and tube to drop that underneath the car.
