Not a good mix that. I've had something similar but not boost related when doing a two car overtake in my kit car and the throttle cable snapped half way thru the manoeuvre, momentum took me past thankfully but having to pull over immediately afterwards was slightly* embarrassing.

My mate needs to do a bit more exploring in his dinky 4x4, they are such good fun. I was right by one of those fords of that website at the weekend, one where you drive down the stream bed, I'll have to give him a nudge in the right direction.

My neighbours V50 has really been playing up again and flattening the battery. I've been rough for a week with a bad chest infection, nebuliser the lot so not got round to looking at it. I felt a bit better thus afternoon so went snd goy a kill switch and chucked that on it to make things a bit easier for her in the interim.
It was in the garage last week, they've unblocked the air con drains which were rammed solid a common problem with these. Tom noticed her car was the only one full of moisture in the whole street the other week when we were walking back from the pub.
It's had a dehumidifier in it and is booked in to have the seats and carpets removed before it goes to an auto electrician. I'll have another go at it before then if I feel up to it.

It's showing an alarm fault, I've pulled the fuse but it's had no effect. Probably CEM related?

The V70s have a fault with the alarm where the battery corrodes and gives up the ghost. Maybe theses suffer the same.

Cheers, aware of that and I have told her that may be the issue. It's showing up an alarm fault on the dash which is why I pulled the alarm fuse but it's made no difference. Last time round it was the central locking playing up and not letting the alarm go to sleep fully, I've lubed up all the locks again but this time no dice sadly..
It's got 104K on the clock now and drives and goes really well, averaging 42mpg at the mo so she's going to stick with it for a bit longer yet. If she doesn't need the car for a few days I'll pull the CEM and see if she's got somewhere to try and dry it out a bit. Her place isn't exactly small so may have it's own boiler room?

Arseholes, I'm sure they think everything in a flat box is some kind of Ikea TV stand shite. My Cowley rad came with a kinked top filler because the twat dropped it - or more likely dropped something else on it.

It's a Nissens rad, you'd think the box would have FRAGILE in big letters all over it but nope I wasn't in the mood to put it in tbh and Tom's taken it back and ordered another one. The old rad on his ZX was bent in a hilarious fashion and never leaked because of trying to cram a ridiculous intercooler in there but he's paid good money for this and I think it would generally just take the car backwards. If it was going to get grannied round the place I wouldn't have had so much of a problem with it. As it is it's a toy and going to be quite highly stressed at times hopefully so a good rad would be a good start.

Apparently he's requested about 400BHp's worth of fuel on the map so with losses to take into account we're both going with the ball park 350 bhp at the mo.

Not sure about the cheap bit but worthwhile fun, yes. It rides great tbh, soaks up potholes remarkably well so it's a relaxing thing to tat about in, the huge boot being a bonus. I just wish it was a manual and more driver focused. The autobox makes it feel like a runaway train when the throttle is lifted off, even with the big brakes fitted it doesn't really inspire.

They are probably a far better car than I've given them credit for. Never had much to do with that gen of MB but I do remember getting a cab in France when they were new - geezer drove it like Eugen Bohringer through these narrow French village roads, mad as a cut snake. I do remember it being remarkably composed - a bit more than I was.

It seemed only a matter of a couple of years after that we started hearing horror stories about suspension mounts corroding.
