Cheers mate! It was only intended as a temporary (3-4 year) repair though, and I wouldn't dare tow anything heavy with it because there's still a lot of original thin steel in that chassis,

If I really get on with the car I'll give it a half or full chassis at some point, assuming they're box section rather than that hopeless composite toss.

Another vehicle that was good for scrap.

This Justy is owned by the same chap who owns the ZX. It's not been used since I did loads of work to it and CLINT prepped and painted it. It hadn't been started in 12 months but started first touch of the key with a new battery on it! Some muppet had left the handbrake on but it was soon freed off and it trundled off down to the shack under its own steam.

Admittedly looking a little sorry for itself at that point...

Anyway, I'd been called in to do more fucking welding on the little twatting thing, it's a good job I like baby Scoobies. Thankfully this time it was very minor compared to the epic weldathon on it last time. My main problem being I had no access to a plasma cutter this time and the grinder was physically impossible to get in to position, with or without a guard. Normally I never plate anything but this time I had no choice so did as tidy a job as I could as an interim repair.

Even the bit I could cut out proved an arse to get to, I had to use a really worn cut off disk and guard removed to get to it and even then I failed to cut it out tidily.

Wot hole M8? The underside has had a liberal coating off rust killer in that area to fend the cancer off as much as possible.

After that it was due a bit of a spruce up and tbh it comes up pretty well apart from a mis-matched colour on the other front wing. 

All repairs done yet again with pure CO2 aka pub gas, please tell anyone that spouts that you can't use it to fuck off and stop talking bollox. It really does seem to be getting a thing now! Thankfully this time I was armed with 0.6mm wire and not 0.8.

Whatever did happen to Station that used to own this anyway?

The ZX has pretty much been stripped. I put a quick ad up on Facebook on the 306 page to help him out after he's advertised it on Marketplace and had virtually no interest. The Paddy's came out in force for the alloys virtually immediately, 4 of them wanting them, 3 of them being called Connor lol £100 for the best set, 80 for the other has been agreed. The steering wheel was also agreed to immediately when my mate said he wanted 75 quid for it. Hopefully some of the sales will at least go thru.

In other news my Nans MGBGT in the colour most people hate has come back from a respray, it's being sent back... Numerous runs, rust coming back 2 weeks after it was done, they didn't even do inside the doors or the door shuts even though they've obviously sanded the edges of the doors and rubbed thru the paint on the inside edges, useless cunts.
There's also the windscreen, taken out and put back by a specialist apparently. Yeah, well I'd agree whoever did it is fucking special alright!

Me and a mate put it right but the seal has various cuts in it now where they've been butchering it. Why the fuck can't anyone to do with paint shops do a decent job? :roll: My old man owns it now so it's good to see it having a bit of love nonetheless.

That picture made me do a double take and check the reg! I like the chrome Rostyles, something I do quite like a lot on an BGT.

Did they remove the windscreen to paint? Looks almost like they masked it off around that seal - especially at the bottom section.

Yep, it's an absolute dead ringer for yours. They appear to have removed it, yes as they've also smeared some sort of black gunk on the seal to put it back in, fucktards. The cars seen some paint over the years and I'm pretty sure that's there from previous substandard work by AA approved paint specialists*
Agreed on the wheels, I think they really suit it, AFAIK they've been fitted since new, the car's a year older than me so I've known it for a very long time. My old man was toying with the idea of putting wires on it asapparently the heritage cert says it was specced with them from the factory? I can't see that myself tho and I think I (and the cost) has put him off that idea.

You probably already know but wires require new axles and hubs as they're a single splined job, rather than wheel studs. Also a pain to keep them clean and have them balanced.

I'd love to have mine freshly painted. However Mrs SiC hates the colour and it'd end up as something painted differently.

Lol, maybe they're still going and have set up a franchise in Kidderminster?

My old man's got no attention to detail whatsoever, it took a lot of getting thru to him that it wasn't simply just a case of getting some wheels and fitting them but I got there in the end. He is throwing a fair bit of cash at it at the mo. The bumpers have just been re-chromed, two new batteries bought, my mate is re-painting the dash as the wrinkle paint is failing. He's also bought some decent rust killer and treatment for underneath I think? It needs some minor welding somewhere too. My Grandad was in the REME so it was pretty well looked after for the first 20 years, including being treated underneath. Add the fact it's been garaged (although sometimes with a wet floor) its whole life and it really is pretty solid for one of these.
As for the colour I love it, at least it's not brown.

I seem to remember that years ago you used to be able to buy bolt on wires.

They weren't cheap but were less than doing it 'properly'.
