It worries me just thinking about it  I'm really experienced with them and still get it wrong sometimes in a confined space of catch an edge the wrong way  I'll give him 30 mins before he gets it tangled up in whatever top he's wearing with a horrible buzzing/smell coming from the grinder!

I would get it shotblasted if you want to do a proper job. £150 I reckon?

Know anyone local who has portable kit? Getting it moved legally now would be a bit of an arse and I really don't know what the budget is tbh. That's why I suggested Hydrate 80 after prepping it properly and then Por15 on top of that with a top coat after. That combo should keep it pretty much as it is for years to come hopefully.
It could get blasted and chassis painted up at Dom's on the pit but not sure how much he'd charge and I wouldn't want to get involved at all!

The MGBGT has been stuck in the garage since my old man has been stuck in Portugal with all this bollox going on. I think he's planning on coming back in a few weeks time? It had developed a water leak last time it was used, he was arsing about trying to get gaskets etc apparently. 20 quid got this purportedly British made product posted to the door. Looks OK quality wise and hopefully it'll stop the water and electrickery from mixing.

That looks to be the same manufacturer that made my heater valve for the Cowley....Being a 1500 it takes the MGA item but runs back to front so my current cable set-up is a bit useless. Nicely made though and more importantly doesn't leak.....

did you get it from NTG?

I hunted about a bit and then found this listing on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGB-MGB-GT-M ... 2749.l2649

I'd seen a couple of forum threads where the supplied parts looked very ropy indeed. The listing and feedback from here read well so I thought I'd give them a try.

Thanks for that....I have bought off Ashley Hinton a few times and been pleased with the stuff so far. NTG are a bit dearer but I get good advice from them on the phone, proper enthusiasts and very long established. They are getting a lot of stuff made here now due to supply and quality problems from Chinaland.

A friend of mine reckons time spent in recon essence is seldom wasted so fingers crossed it'll work out. I'd rather pay a bit more and have it last than bin it any day.

Looks like there's no need for box section after all  2 sections just in case the other side proves to be worse than it looks, both 7' long so there's a bit spare. There's been a bit of a delay with the floor sections, hopefully they'll be ready by the weekend.
