How about 360s? The 318s were never really worth much here but have suddenly shot up.

Always a possibility. Makes it easier because it's still small block Chrysler.

It's easier to make a 360 go well as a bonus, assuming it's not an extra low compression truck engine from the smog era..

I have started to lubricate my nuts.

I want to make one good bumper from the two I have.
Between the two I have everything I need to make one halfway decent bumper, minus the indicator lenses.

Question though. Anyone found a good way to straighten a bumper where the irons have pushed a dent out where they mount?

This is made from steel as thick as some warships

Is it chromed? If not can you heat it up and knock it back straight?

If it is thick you'll definitely need the heat rather than trying it cold. Use MAP gas rather than normal butane/ propane in the blow lamp if you have no access to oxy Acetylene

Yeah, is chromed. So heat is out of the option.
You can see how thick it is on the right side, about 1/8".

Could you mount it back to front and drive against something to push it back slowly?

Mounted at the wrong angle to do that.

Might be able to make a large anvil from wood and hammer it flat though.

Rope round each side of the mount to a solid object and roll the car back gently by hand to pull it back?

That would bend the sides of it outward. I need to straighten up where it's been tied up and towed wrong too.
