The two I've had were both SRi 150 diesels.

The good points were comfy seats, simple cruise control, great MPG and a huge boot.

Not so good points. Abysmal headlights prone to needing cutting and polishing, scary handling above 100mph, not as roomy in the rear as a Mk4 Mondeo, comedy indicator and wiper stalks meaning sometimes the wipers needed a determined effort to switch off and Vauxhall mingebag spec that lacks bluetooth, an aux socket and having keep fit windows in the back is a pain in the arse in any taxi.

I'll let you know.

My old 200k plus 150 bhp estate would touch do 50mpg on a commute to work, mixed driving over 14 miles.

We'll see .😁

There was a '0' previous owner, petrol example, in the auctions on Friday, direct from a Lexus dealer. I quite fancied it.

A modern Vauxhall
Good points Absolutely none
Bad points Every fucking thing they are just shit.
The mark 2 cavalier was the last decent car they made and it all went down hill from there. Ford are close on their heels with some of the shit they have produced in the last 20 years.

Yea-nope.

Latest news -

Serviced a/c - as in properly. Now working as intended.
Mpg check - 45.1 mpg (mileage/litres/full tank to full tank).
Washed it - looks half decent in black.

To do -
Interior valet/sweep out.
Refit front bumper side clips.
Replace fog lamp blank. Probably.
Soak rear a/roll bar D bushes in anticipation.
Wheel alignment.
Fuel filter change.
Look at gear linkage clips and ignore again.

How bad is the gear linkage? Both mine were well over 100k with no issues?

Not bad at all.

PO did a temp-ish repair to the cable to linkage ends. Cable-ties. Not sure if they're actually needed - probably lost the R-clips from a clutch change. Will have a look tomorrow. Maybe.

Works fine - slight wear in the bottom pivot bush that you can feel when selecting 6th. Not that I do often.

Not bad cars at all. The cost cutting can be felt in the later ones though. I think they got rid of the bonnet gas rams, auto wipers and auto dip mirror as well as cruise and ambient lighting on lower spec facelifts. All that was standard fit early on. Weve owned a few now. I've had a 122bhp 1.8 elegance, wife has had a 2002 sxi,2003 LS and a 53 plate active all with the 1.8 engine. The active was the best overall and she owned it for 5 years and put 40k on it. Cim module died on holiday at 160k. If it hadn't died I'm sure she would still have it. Odd spec as it was Pretty much an sri with a close ratio box, tinted lights and sri bumpers but with only a 1.8 and without the trip computer, sports seats and sports steering wheel. The 03 LS was the first one she had. Picked up from auction at 8 years old for 800 quid. She loved it but was troublesome. The 52 plate sxi had sports seats that were damn uncomfortable for the larger person and not reliable at all. My elegance was a nice comfy cruiser but felt overwhelmed with the 1.8 in it. The 52 plate and 03 plate had rear interior lights and rear cup holders too that were omitted in the 53 plate.

I miss the gas rams.

Decent vac and cleaner on the seats. Not bad now, will have another go.

Flushed cooking system and replaced coolant.
Thermostat next.
Might even do D bushes...😜

A mate had one of these, he liked it until it and he fell off the road by the Mount Olympus in SOS, it took a bit of getting out from between the trees by all accounts. Definitely more cruiser than sports car.
