Yeah, Devon have an awful reputation for their interiors.

Nowt wrong with mocking stuff up full size using cardboard/builder's pine/sellotape, what I was taught to do at college, especially in this instance you can't get a true feel for what you need otherwise.
Depending on how busy I am in the summer I may do the work myself, other than fitting a battery charging system. I have a fairly low mileage lwb T5 which I bought three years ago, partly with this purpose in mind.

My friend had a load of 28mm ply sheets that were delivered as extra" for a job so he made his T4 or T5 interior with those. It was incredibly solid but also unfeasibly heavy.
Looked nice when varnished though.

1" ply!? I bet that was fun to cut. The van would probably be overweight too.
It's surprising how little a transit can carry. I think mine is only 1100kg.
A couple of decent passengers and that's down to 900kg. Add tools, ladders etc. and I reckon I'm over 90% of the time.

It is certainly surprising how much weight a camper conversion and all the detritus associated with living in a field can add - awnings, bedding, bikes, leisure battery etc. When I had the folding caravan as well it certainly affected the VW on hills so I wouldn't like to have had a roadside check.

T25 hi-tops are supposed to have a 900kg payload.....
