The exhaust wants welding. It won't fucking come off then. The issue of removing it is a problem for another day. 20 mins with a gas welder, sorted.

I have a solex carb, it's a big one by my standards, 40mm.
It looks nothing like yours, but then again its refreshingly unworn in the shaft area which is nice, and could just be of use. Free other than £2.80 for The Herpes. Nice to see some Renaultness, I've had mega mileage out of 12s on a shoestring but that was many years ago.

The passenger windscreen washer is still held* in by the blue tack Conelrad used to hold it in for it's only ever MoT almost two years ago. The blue tack has since vanished. If you call this fixed, then yes, I fixed it.

I'd really like to own this just to have another part for a car I don't own.
I think it's early DS, or H van, so you might want to reconsider your most generous offer because ££££s.

It depends on how small. I bet it'll work a treat on a V8 60, see Simca.

Welding is not an option.

The issue of it splitting has been solved by proper engineering.
I should have done this from the onset. All it took in the end is rectifying a problem caused by pattern parts. Incidentally, they weren't even made in China.

They were made in Germany. And if there is one thing I've learned since 1986, it's that that's even worse.

I've given it some thought and nowt is the lowest I'm prepared to go. Its been thrice flaunted on eBay and failed to get a bid each time, next stop is here.

On the carb side of things I think I've got a Solex Pict 31, can't remember which version, in my T2 parts stash.

Would this be of any use? If it might be I'll dig it out and take some pics.

I disagree with that; in 2007, the original exhaust on my 730i was just about fucked after 18 years. I tried to economise with a Bosal centre and rear box. It was catastrophically shit, didn't really fit and had a boom period around 2500 rpm that made it appalling to drive. Then tried a Walker worst, didn't even fit. I bit the bullet and ordered one from BMW, made by Eberspaecher (Boysen are the other OE maker). It fitted like a glove with sleeved weld-on joints (anything less will eventually leak), showed a remarkable increase in performance and economy and is still there after 12 years.

It was close to 600 quid. At fifty pounds a year, I consider it excellent value. It would have gone through two shit pattern exhausts in that time and not sounded/performed the same.
