Good for you they’re a good little van. Make sure you replace the belt when doing the alternator as they love to ping when being stretched and run on a new groove.

Less annoying tag line.
Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.

Funnily enough it has a new auxiliary belt. The female owner has just had a baby so not enough space in it and now looking for a crew van that's why it was for sale. She used it 2 days ago just to put 15 quid diesel in then parked it up. Before that it was sat since before christmas. Only had 2 previous owners I think too.

Nice work.

Have you a proper auto electrical place that does refurbs on starters and alternators near you?

They’ll probably have a control box (rectifier) in for yours and be able to sort it for well under £40.

I'm not sure. I'm going to see if light illuminates on dash tomorro because I cant remember! If it does then I'll check 12v pulse wire and earth connections

I helped a mate change the alternator of his berlingo on his drive about ten years ago. It was a proper bastard of a job. I can't remember why now though. It took feckin' ages. I think we took it out from underneath in the end.

This is why I have a friendly mobile mechanic. I can tell when hes getting annoyed so I leave him on the drive doing his thing and i slip off to make him bacon butties and tea. He soon feels better after!

A little update. My friendly mechanic has a citroen picasso diesel. He only bought it for the number plate to give to his dad as a present. The rest of the car is being broken. The alternator is the same as the berlingo but higher amp. The fittings are the same though so for the sum of 50 of the queens finest he removed the alternator off the picasso, removed my alternator and refitted the picasso one to the van. 50 quid for a known working alternator and labour isn't to be sniffed at. The van now has a fully working electrical system. Bonus!
Here are some pics for anyone who may care.
Low miles for a van at 18 years old too

Only bit of damage is a dented wing which is easily replaceable and a bit of rust on a lower seam

Interior is a bit mucky but nothing a vacuum and dash polish wont solve. Everything works except the remote locking as the buttons are missing. Circuit board works so I've ordered a key cover for 2.60 off of the bay.
