I had a rare non rusty w202. Great car, basic 1.8 petrol model. I got rid as the seats crippled me. Knowing your issues you might suffer the same too.

W202's are OK, a good tough old car. The rust is normally cosmetic and they don't all rust. The engine is the old OM605, pre common rail chugger that can be given a bit of veg now and then. Those old straight 5's were a legend. Good autoboxes and simple to work on.

£500 = buy it.

I've had conflicting information on whether to go look or not. Trouble is it's 60 miles away and I'd need to find someone to take me or to drive it back. Also its a long way to go if its a nail. The bottoms of doors look very scabby in the photos and the mot is up in 2 weeks. Maybe too much of a gamble? Regards seating,a bloke I know had one and I drove his perfectly fine but there was an art to getting the seat just right. If it was closer I'd definitely go look but 120 mile round trip wasted is a long way to travel. Also had wild variations on what yo expect fuel wise. The c4 does around 33mpg on average but on the other side veg oil is 1.09 at lidl last I checked.

Same as MILs one we fraged at the start of Corona, solid underneath but getting religious on the panels.
I'm not a fan sorry It won't even have a cat that's worth money. I'm guessing it would go alright for export to Africa though if it fails the MOT in a catastrophic manner

I think I'm going to give it a swerve amd as someone said above stick to what you know which is a large French mpv. Mother and father in law are getting older now and when they babysit our young nephew they ask us if we want to go out for the day and I'm the designated driver usually so a 7 seater or similar will be better when I think about things logically. I have said to wife ill chuck c4 through mot in a few weeks but keep eyes open for an automatic zafira or similar.
