at least it will be easy enough to change over if I decide I don't like it.

at some point in the future, I'll look at fitting a digital dash - some of the motorbike style ones are pretty smart - but I'll get it built and tested before getting carried away with niceties

RE: Rear lights - you probably know this already but IVA/C&U has rules about how far from each other and how high off the deck etc they need to be. I am not up to date on it but no doubt the IVA man will get his tape measure out.

Great thread BTW - I fancied doing one of these until I realised I have too many daft projects already and I never finish anything. I enjoy seeing people actually get stuff done.

there's still a way to go - I'm just enjoying taking my time with the build. I'll see about booking a test once it's moving under its own steam.

the lights up high on the board is just a temporary arrangement while I sort out the wiring, once I get the 'bodywork' fitted, the lighting positions will be IVA compliant. then I can put them where I like again

I do like a kit car. I drove one all through the year for a good few years. A mate bought a Roadrunner SR2 a few years back with the Mazda engine in, at sub 500KG it went very well indeed and with R888's all round the grip was phenomenal. He then had it turbocharged, I haven't driven it since then tho.

That sounds like a whole load of fun / terror in equal measure - I suspect mine will end up boosted at some point along the way but should be a hoot with just the basic engine not sure about using it all year round as a daily though
