Were You Taught By A Wobber Schoolteacher?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I hated school too - the only things I liked were Tech Drawing and Metalwork - but I had to pack those in. I was reasonably bright so my Ma (a teacher - thank god not at our school) insisted I do "academic" stuff.
I hated most of the teachers and most of the other kids. I was shit at all sports which led to me being called a fucking useless spastic and picked last for everything - sometimes I was "dumped" into the other team so as not to weigh down one side. I can laugh about it now but I took it all to heart at the time. This is one reason I argue when people start banging on about team sport "building character"- I can see that if you are good (or just not shit) - but they are miserable if you are shit at them.

French teacher at high school had an early BX in the orange beige they came in.

One teacher, can't remember the name, she taught the special kids, had a mk3 Escort in Wedgewood blue. The back end was stoved in and was for all the time I was there.

One beardy hippy teacher had a 2CV. He wore sandals obviously. He ended up being the mayor of Bewdley.

One teacher, proper prick of a teacher had a classic Beetle. Never liked the things anyway but this confirmed it for me that they were driven by pricks.

Two of my three primary school teachers drove Escorts whilst I was there.

Same two drove Escorts whilst I was on the desk at Lookers Ford recovering from broken ankle in '96.

Both walked straight in and said hello. Not bad for 22 years gap! Obviously I was memorable.😁

Middle school I saw my first miniMetro (Miss Whatmore).
Wally Checketts owned a Moggy with metallic paint and Wolfraces. It was stolen then replaced with a midblue Spitfire 1500.
Someone had a brown (obviously) Allegro.

Same curriculum as me, then, except for the TD. Never could draw a straight line no matter what three foot long T square I had. For a laugh, I ticked "Typing" as an option in the final two years and fuck me they let me do it! Got me off 3 science subjects as I had to take Business Studies and Commercial Arithmetic with it. Those two years and 3 subjects gave me more useable information than I ever learned in the previous eight years.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Just a couple of notables. Metalwork teacher who’s name eludes me had a Lotus Elite (wedge estate car one) and an Austin Healey 3000.
Languages teacher Mr. O’Sullivan had a Fiat 900 tiny minibus which was in an accident while full of schoolkids one of whom went through the windscreen.
French teacher Madame Saulnier, miserable Parisian with terrible breath, had a Velosolex (cliche) followed by a Yamaha DT175.

Only significant one I remember was a sociolology teacher name Mr Markus who ran a Triumph Stag with arches filled with Ispopon annually. It did make a nice noise though and marked several spots in the school car park with oil.

My old chemistry teacher Mr Dellucci drove a 2 stroke Saab in beige. It was a right clattering thing.

He started each lesson with the immortal words, set up I’m going for a fag n coffee break. Don’t burn anything whilst looking at me?

Less annoying tag line.
Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.

Mr Byrne. Art teacher. Fiat 128. He was a big cunt, ex wrestler and the first teacher I had a bare knuckle with.

Who won?
He did. Authority always does. At least I went down fighting a noble cause.
