Brick foam and filler is the way to go, Scooby's are thirsty enough without filling the sills with concrete!

A mate bought a Mk2 Cavvy that had this done to it by a previous owner. It lasted nearly 3 years into his ownership before it reared it's ugly head and he had to get it welded for the next MOT.

Where's the vid of the Super 7 doing donuts in the snow anyway? :P

That’s brilliant!
Not buying a car from him though…

I’ve not got to the seven yet as Christmas and visitors have got in the way.
I need to roll the car out of the garage and into a side that doesn’t have another car above it. That way I won’t be fighting the carbs doubled over, worrying if I’m going to hit my head!

We are away now for a couple of days. This time in a cabin in the middle of no-where in Wisconsin.
The wife struggles to not do anything and I always feel guilty as I find it VERY easy to only womble around, so a cabin means 1, we have to spend time as a family and 2, there’s only so much the Mrs can do before she has to stop and just read a book!

It’s about -6c as a high today and got enough snow here last night, that Winnie the Bulldog left a trail of 4 paw prints and a dragged middle line - on the previously ploughed area! Poor fella must have a frost bitten todger.

Pretty rustic!

We’ve been warned not to leave food outside because of the bears (surely they would be asleep to bother with Pick-a-nik baskets?) and the internet went out last night which was the end of the world for the young un!

Just spoken to the 912 shippers and the car should be delivered sometime on Saturday. Result!

From the photos, I could see that the dash is pretty cut up but has no radio.
I currently have this ace device in the WReX:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07V27CY ... asin_title
At $18 it’s one of the best things I’ve ever added to a car. Plug it into the fag lighter and tune the radio and off you go!
I’ve listened to probably a few hundred hours of audio books on the thing.

Problem for the 912, it has no stereo to start with, but I have seen speaker holes in the door.

A quick google search later and I’ve found this little beauty!

A 100W amp, with Bluetooth pick up running from 12V. Two channel (right and left) and comes with volume, treble and bass controls.
It arrived yesterday and was quick and easy to assemble:

Right now, I’m not sure if I’m going to hide it in the car somewhere and cover the radio hole (and maybe buy a classic non-functioning radio) or make some sort of suitcase type unit that connects to the speakers and power (or maybe has the speakers in the suitcase?).

There’s no Bluetooth password and some reviews have slated it as you can’t easily disconnect your phone if you want to, so I figure a power switch somewhere to turn it on and off and then adjust the volume from my phone.

Should be fun!

Edit: in other news, the WReX scared me a little today, stumbling on the freeway for a few seconds… It’s more worrying here as if it breaks down somewhere in sub zero temps, my goose could be cooked (or rather frozen). I think I need to start looking for a replacement in earnest now.

Decided, I’m off to look for a WReX replacement this weekend.

There will need to be some toy car redistribution at some point to balance the sheckles, but today one of the guys at work came over and asked me if my car was okay or did I need a ride. It was cold and the car was making some ‘interesting noises’ as I sat in it, warming it up before driving.

The exhaust bung has loosened again (rattling like a penny in a metal drum) and the emissions valve was tapping away happily. One is an easy fix, the other an $800 part apparently. And I haven’t looked at how high the engine oil has reached for two weeks (as it’s constantly being diluted with petrol somehow). Hasn’t stumbled on the freeway again though (yet…)

Time for something with heated seats, a little more reliable, 4wd and maybe even comfy (aircon would be a plus for the summer too!)

I do fancy something like a Toyota 4 runner or Land Rover Defender but both are silly money here. Would be great if it could tow the Caterham on a dolly too. I’ve seen a few Mitsi off-roaders, but they stopped making them for the US in 2006 so probably would be trading one can of worms for another.

They have threatened to deliver the 912 again this weekend. I won’t be holding my breath…

Yes, I think it was called the LR2 here.
I hadn’t thought about one of those. It might be too late now though…

Think I’ve done a thing. Is it wrong to buy a car, because you wanted the toy one as a kid, but was always too poor?

I went back to the Chrysler stealership to see if they had any more used in at closer to MSRP as the last time I was there, a year and a half old one with 35k miles was just above new price.

If anything they had gone up a little more, so I may have ordered a base model of something I always wanted as a kid, but this time full size…

Has to be more-door, but now just have to see how long production is.
Worst case, I can have my $500 deposit back or sell it for more $$$ when it gets here.

Apparently, the wait is around 12 weeks… Base model v6 with optional removable hard top, and driver rowing as auto was another $2.5k.

The wait will give me enough time to this spring and let one of the toys go to pay for it - just hope the WReX can hold out that long!
