Took a couple of pics of the wrecx yesterday (as you do when your sad like me) of it sitting on the drive.
First is from the window on the rhs of the front door, second from the left.
Somehow in the second picture, the reflection from the window is picked up and reflected using the darkness of the farthest garage. You can see my wife on the phone and just make out Poppy the bulldog!

Just drive off faster in the morning so they can't hear the exhaust for as long...

Went to a local vw show this weekend.
Was a little warm to be strolling around...

But there were some interesting cars there.
In the water cooled section, these were well done.

The little ‘un was very taken by this (as most kids that passed it seemed to be)

But the aircooled section is why I went along.

I bought a 405 diesel off a mate for 30 quid years back, a proper snotter. He'd fitted a battery off an Iveco van to get round the starting issue. Trouble was he did factory shifts so early morning starting was an issue as winding it over for a minute or more chugging was deemed anti social... He used to push it round the corner, off down a bit of a bank, problem solved.
I handed him the money one day outside my mates place, deal done, then sat in it. Just before he got In the house I shout "OI, Stu, what does this button do" he replies no idea mate I tried pushing it and it does fuck all.
Ignition on, counted to 7 and it fired straight up. He was incredulous. Turned out it was a 2l petrol converted to diesel and they'd bodged the glow plugs 😂
One of the best cars I ever ran 😎 Obviously for that money I'd never even sat in it before handing over the cash.

Hahaha. Always the best cars - those with some character!

Unfortunately, before the butt plug, the WReX could be heard two streets away if it was on anything other than idle...
The butt plug has made it way more sociable!

Does a bit. Doesn’t seem quite so free revving and does make any little pops on deceleration.
Still, small price to pay for neighborly harmony.

So I’ve always wanted a Karmann Ghia.

When I was 15 or 16 I joined the Karmann Ghia owners club as they took sympathizers in and were willing to send them the monthly news letter for the requisite number of sheckles.

Fast forward another couple of years and I saw an amazing yellow KG at Poorlock in Somerset (damn, why can’t I remember how to spell that???) and took a photo (which was the go to boots for printing) and even after my limited move to the US, I still kept.
About two months ago, I was getting antsy because I thought it was another of those cars, that as your earnings go up, so do the cars, putting them kind of out of reach forever. Not quite Porsche 356 territory but certainly making you squeak and being not particularly fair on the family.

Telling a guy at work about it and a friend of a friend has one up on his farm. Around 3 hrs drive away. Frankly the middle of no-where.

On the plus side, he’s got his friend to send me some pics (it’s a rusty 1970 (big indicators and rear lights) so not the ideal, but still great) and wants around $3k for it. Down side is, taking the photos has got his mate to get off his harris and post it for sale on a specialist website…

I’m hoping to go see it next Saturday, but it’s likely going to take 7hrs of driving all told as it’s out in the middle of no-where.

I don’t have space for it, but that’s not stopped me before…

It needs floors, sills and much more. Still, should make a great project.
We’ll see if he still has it next Saturday!

Good luck with it! Whilst you are at the farm you might as well have a look if there's anything else anybody would like to purchase...
