Upon reflection that new donut thingy is the wrong size - too big. So I've ordered a different one which will hopefully fit better. Also realised I need to drop the Y-pipe anyway as I need to drill it for the O2 sensor for the injection system.

In further "oh bollocks" revelations, it appears I misunderstood about the EFI not needing a return line, and it does.
This will be interesting as there's nowhere on the tank to plumb it to. It also turns out the fuel line isn't a large enough bore - fuck knows how that's supposed to work in conjunction with the pickup/gauge sender as that is the "too small" bore.

So much for a quick "bolt on and go" solution.

Could you connect it to the fuel filler neck?
Is it rubber?

Dunno about all that - the diagram it comes with shows it going back into the tank and there being a pipe to take it down the the bottom of the tank (although I suppose I could run one one the inside of the filler.

Holley do replacement tanks and in-tank pumps but not for rare models like mine.

Finally got around to drilling the exhaust for the o2 sensor. All good except the stainless clamps supplied are too large for my pipe. Replacements of the right size were going to cost plenty so I have ordered a mild steel threaded insert to weld into the pipe.

I think the return lines are meant to be to the bottom of the tank to prevent it emptying the line by siphon action when it's left switched off for a while.

Forecast is dry for the next few days so decided the car can see daylight for a bit. Need batteries for welding mask so o2 sensor progress stalled

I understand the logistics prevent this, but I would love to arrange a TDW "CAR" Magazine style Giant Test on this and Phil's Fury when they're both done....

I think the AMC would win on rarity - the Fury on everything else. Also my AMC is and always will be a rolling resto (albeit not on the road at present) whereas that fury is a much higher standard.
