Right we've got a Kwik fit that are local and open. What happens if it holds a vacuum they fill it and it doesn't cool do they empty it again?
Have no idea how long this system has been empty for so I'm not over optimistic
Might need a dryer too then.
The Saab I had off SiC had been empty for ages, I'm sure he said it never worked when he had it. I got it filled but after 5-10mins it'd only blow luke warm not cold. From reading up on it, that was due to the dryer not working & moisture in the system.
The dryer is just a pot of crystals so should be changed just before it's gassed or it'll absorb moisture from the air & be no good.
Depends how long the system has been empty & if air had got in. Just too low on gas for the thing to work & it'll still be dry, if it's been opened & air has got in, the dryer might be 'full'.

Afaik they vacuum it and see if it holds a vacuum (i.e. no leaks). If it does leak they'll stop there as not legal to fill a leaky system. They then put the refrigerant in and see if it works. I imagine they'll leave the gas in at this point if it doesn't work, otherwise they'll have to pay for gas disposal too.
Had the clio booked in with Kwikshit but their machine had a FTP so sent me up the road to Tyre City which apparently is their sister company. Left it with them and they filled it and it held vacuum. Drove back home but it still wasn't blowing cold.
Took it back the next day and no gas had been lost so fault was elsewhere. Fair play to them, they offered me a full refund which I felt a bit cheeky about accepting but quickly got over that!
