That awful colour MGB GT

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

your car though 😊
I think I'm going to give it a go on the wheels first. Easy enough to do on them and I can't make them look worse.

50:50 on the chrome/stainless steel embellishments. Not my usual thing sticking stuff like that on, but I kinda like the added detail on it.

Bumpers I like, window frames I'm not sure, door handles are a no and the door mirrors are definite big no.

I think I like the wheels, unsure on the rest though. The bumpers sort of work, but being so common they'll always say 'painted chrome' to me rather than seeing them as they are.

Due to my neglecting to fix a leak between hood rail and windscreen I now have to replace part of my MGBs floor. These floors are covered in pitch which has to be scraped off. Floor and sills look original so have done nearly 50 years.
With the lacy bit cut out I just have to finish drilling out the old spot welds.

I wire wheeled both floorpans about a year ago, just before Covid stopped it getting back on the road. They're still original but with a few small holes now welded up.
It took me days even though it had set pretty solidly. Mind you being old and not very flexible, to say the least, probably contributed to that.

I think mine still has that coating on the floors.

Me.

I'd be pretty pissed off paying 5k for new sills for it to be bendy.

That's done it. I could have sent for a complete floor pressing for 78 quid instead of making my own pissed up one, but where's the fun in that? I'm going to give it a nice thick layer of epoxy resin both sides to replace that pitch stuff and now at least the passenger won't fall out the bottom. Next job is to replace the off side wiper box as it's slipping.
Previous owner had the seats recovered in 2001. The leather is just nice now but the plastic sides are cracking up. There's plenty of new covers about, but they probably cut them out of mouse's foreskin these days so a repair must be contrived.

I'm really looking forward to getting my B out. Especially with this nice weather over the last few days.

No point though as can't go anywhere and now they'll be chucking salt down like there is no tomorrow over the next few days.
