That was another poor sod who fell victim to the charms I expressed with my car. He bought a carbed one and it caught fire and the AA totally got it wrong. We were friends on FB and spent many a long hour bemoaning our fates with these glorious, but potentially, bankrupting old birds!

To forget about the cock up that has been buying a car in France I decided to give the Bentley a bit of a run. I had to drop my parents back to Essex and as it is the only 4 seater car I have it had to be the Bentley. 450 miles there and back and burnt through 150 quids worth of fuel. A not too shabby 15mpg which considering I did enjoy the performance on the way home somewhat I can live with. I will have to clean it next week as it has turned into an insect graveyard. The brakes have bedded in nicely now as well which inspires confidence to out brake people on the roundabouts, once you get the hang of it the old girl can hussle through the twisty bits as well.

15mpg from a turbo powered semi-detached mansion sounds quite acceptable to me.

£150 four ways for Somerset-Essex seems fair. I know that's academic as probably nobody else chipped in but it compares well with similar journeys in old Yanks with knackered suspension back in the 1980s/90s. £37.50 return by Bentley beats the shit out of the train.....
