Why are they messing about hitting the front corner not the drivers door? They need to go and watch a few of the less friendly bangers team meetings, and maybe drive a Rhodius....

#driversdoorthewaytoscore

Would also like to see someone followed in to teach them a lesson.....

Right let's get down to shit journos.

I caught the IoW e-scooter rider story as reported on the BBC News website https://archive.is/s33eE which opens "A woman is thought to be the first person in the UK to be found guilty of drink-driving while using an e-scooter." So it made me wonder why the fuck the BBC report doesn't just stick to facts, rather than thoughts? Well as helpfully pointed out by mercrocker, the initially ambiguous thoughts appear to stem from Will Rimell, "Audience and Content Editor" at the Southern Daily Echo, Southampton. I reckon this has been taken by the BBC to be "first person", when others have correctly reported "first female" (He writes as if it's a first, but only if we consider females.)

Here are the first four blokes (at least to come to press attention) pissed on an e-scooter. Drane doesn't count as the job isn't finished.

18th December 2019:: Dmitry Gromov, 28, was found to have 134mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood (80mg max, equivalent to blowing 59 over 35). Pleaded guilty to drink driving and careless driving at Westminster Magistrates' Court and was disqualified from driving for 16 months. He was also ordered to pay £3,367.96 in compensation to those he had injured. This was press released by City of London Police on 23rd December 2019, but some main news outlets took until the 10th January 2020 before they sobered up enough to report it.

27th October 2020: Sean McPeake, 31, was found to have 55mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. (35mcg max). Pleaded guilty to drink driving at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court and was disqualified for 12 months, fined £438, plus £145 in costs and £44 victim surcharge.

21st December 2020: Mohamed Shardi, 22, refused to provide a roadside sample and arrested. Eventually provided at the station and blew 2 times over (equivalent to blowing 70mcg). Pleaded guilty at Croydon Magistrates' Court to drink driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving with no insurance and criminal damage to a police cell (dirty protest). He was disqualified for 20 months and fines totalling nearly £410. Part of the fine includes payment for the damage to the police cell.

23rd December 2020: Tyrone Drane, 26, was found to have 144mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood (80mg max, equivalent to blowing 63 over 35). Pleaded guilty at Norwich Magistrates' Court to drink driving, but the result of that is pending due to a 'special reasons' defence put forward by his solicitor and the case had been adjourned to 2nd February 2021 for a case management hearing.

11th January 2021: Ramin Jabbari, 31, was found to have 50mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath (max 35mcg). Pleased guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to drink driving and no insurance. He was disqualified for 12 months and fines totalling £285.

Anyway, CBW gives a hat-tip to Miss Jordan, not for probably being the first woman to be convicted of DD of an e-scooter, but for being the most pissed noted to date, blowing 97

tl;dr BBC News too woke.

In common with most regional, largely on-line, journalism the Southern Daily Echo is written by A-level students working off news feeds from a bloke in the pub. Unfortunately the editor-ship is mainly concerned with shutting down printing sites and click-bait advertising and too busy to review the content of the stories. The only time the truth is approximated is when they open up the comments pages and allow people who know to put them straight.....

Mr Gyton had just paid £3,200 on completely refurbishing the Sprinter van before Christmas.

Our local press is about as accurate as Mercs.
