It does amuse me that for years people paid extra for body colour bumpers, mirrors etc. Now they pay extra for the car to look like it's been fixed on the cheap from the local scrapyard.

And buying cars in that primer grey colour. What the fuck is that about?

Well Merc did Primer Beige back in the 80s/90s, I guess it's a follow on from that. Odd as I remember someone with that colour car getting really upset by being asked how much they saved not ordering a top coat.
