It might be a Jeep (not AMC until 1970) but not a model I recognise. I couldn't tie it in with the likes of Mahindra or any of the South American variants I know of, either and it doesn't appear to be Russkie or Chinese. I'm not totally happy with my Gipsy idea and I don't known enoug about Land Cruisers to be sure of that ID either......
If the idea of the trial was to compare with other market competition the Land Cruiser would be a favourite contender as Toyota were making a concerning impact on LR's African and Australian markets by then.

I attended a Bonhams sale years ago where they were selling a very early Toyota Land Cruiser which had been bought by the Rover car company for evaluation. I just wish they'd learned its lessons. I also bought a XJ40 at that sale, but that's another story.
