Consul Capri, a sodding lovely looking old thing. Much better than the Capri that followed & I like those too.

What is this car?

I remember seeing that 5 or 6 years ago, south side of the river?

Given the Telstar sticker in the rear screen, is it the car from the film of that name about Joe Meek? Watched it a few years ago and I think one of the characters had a Consul Capri in it.

I rescued one in 1995, a 1964 B plate Capri 1500GT. Pretty cars and much better built than the Cortina.

Their Comet was sold a while ago and both his father and grandad have passed away, his father last year was only 57. The workshop on the A52 now specialises in those bloody awful VW campers, hateful things.

Different subject, Toyopet on your posts?
Yes! I got fed up with the cow. Wonder where the Comet is now, one of my favourite lorries.
My Seddon went everywhere under its own steam, once all too literally when I set off for Liverpool on a frosty January afternoon and the heater burst 5 miles from home. It was one of those miserable fug stirrer types so the pipes were joined together and I got up there at about 10 pm, only slightly more frozen than had the thing kept working. My destination was an old tobacco factory, but the gates were shut so I settled down for an uncomfortable night across the engine cover. I can feel a photo coming on over in architectural wob.
I spoke to my postie today and that LBC Comet belongs to his great-uncle. His grandad's Comet was in the livery of a local firm that he worked for (Measham's or something) but when he became ill he sold it and it has gone from the area.

This Longbridge shot was taken in 1968.....Anyone know the production process that would entail taking ADO16 shells in by transporter? Were they simply trucked up from Pressed Steel? I know shells were sometimes transferred between Cowley and Longbridge factories at times of stress caused by strikes/shutdowns or are these destined for the Vanden Plas works at Kingsbury?

Someone will say for sure but one of the brands was built in the main factory and the other was Pressed Steel. Iirc it was Morris vehicles that came from the Pressed Steel factory.
