Re: Found pics
I'm feeling particularly nostalgic today (probably the lockdown, possibly senility) but those shots are bloody lovely to look at. I can't help wondering what recovery use that threepenny-bit may have been, though, if it needed greedy boards for a Mayflower.....!
I love the housing estate shots (Middlesex / Kent area?) - so reminiscent of my youth...We had a geezer in our road who lined 100Es up like that - fucked but useable, fucked but dead and just fucked. When the working one expired the others were stripped, collected by the local scrappy on a hardly-any-better Austin Gipsy with a Harvey Frost and the whole cycle would begin again. Love those slabbed road surfaces too - not many of those left....
Finally check out the bitumastic tide-marks on the A35 and 100E (think that one's a Popular) - neither car probably more than 5 or 6 years old. Baby Austins always seemed to frequent the slightly more up-market areas but every council estate in Britain would be almost bereft of cars in any contemporary photographs - except for a 100E at each of the street.
Lovely stuff, thanks for posting.
