With the parents bing under house arrest, we set up a family Facebook group to share video diaries and photos and the like. Mother has had the old albums out and been uploading.

I remember when dad got the 1976 alfasud 1.3ti I think it was. Great car, but shite in the snow

My parents had an Alfasud back in the day.
One icy day my mother discovered that she was not getting up the steep icy hill.
Half remembering a comment between my Dad and I about reverse gear being lower than first gear,
she turned the Alfasud around and successfully climbed the hill in reverse,
including going round three sides of the binwagon that had got stuck.
[It was the weight transfer that got her there not the lower gearing].
Stubbornness could be described as one of her more positive character traits...
