Early 7s used a 4 speed Triumph box, a mate from work bought one of the first ones even though he couldn't drive. His girlfriend used to drive him around in it.

I think the change to 5 speed was at the same time as production was moved to another factory?

I thought that the Lynx looked brilliant in the artists impressions and then as few years later saw some pics of supposedly an actual prototype, not a mule. If that was what they were going to build it looked crap. I think that it may be somewhere in Gaydon now.

It is indeed.

I had the privilege of a go in it unofficially in 1991 (ish) whilst at College. Our lecturers wife worked for the Heritage division then and he did some work for them. it was in our workshops for a while.

So what does it look like in real life then?

Sort of a SD1 type back end from the B post backwards.

Looks brilliant tbh (for a mock-up/prototype) bearing in mind what was about then- if they'd have actually got th Speke idiots to build any of the intended range it would have stolen a march on the rest of the manufacturers.

Easily room for two adults in rear. looks good, load of engine options etc etc.

The Broadside 'version' has a more polished look about it - parts bin still but .

Looks like the artists impressions. One article mentioned a t bar roof but how they'd reconcile that with a hatchback is questionable I guess.
One of many BL what could have been, like building the SD1 properly.
