Another Beige Incomer

Post by SubPar »

Hello, yet another incomer from the Beige.

I decided to change my username here to something more befitting of me, formerly known as Supernaut.

I'm sure a few folk here think I'm a cunt, but I get the same over on the other place anyway. Hey-ho!

My two heaps:

I've had the E36 316i for quite some time now. The Saab 9000 was acquired back in the summer. It's a bit of a heap but it drives well and is comfy. It currently needs some work on the driver's exterior door handle and the only thing standing in the way of that work is my lack of arsed.

Afternoon cunt

That 316 is familiar, you've had it so long I saw it before I was glitched from orbit.

Aye, it's been around a long time. I love it and will never sell it. Just recently spent a wee bit on getting the rear brakes rebuilt due to one of the cylinders bursting. Yes, cylinders. Due to it being a base model it has rear drums! I think that's super rare on an E36.

The Saab is a base 2.0 16v non-turbo but its interior is a sea of blue velour and walnut. I got it back in summer for very cheap (very very cheap) as it hadn't been on the road for about 3 years or so. It took more than its purchase price to get it through an MOT but I now have a roadworthy 9000 for just into four-figures so meh.

I seem to recall the 316 spent a lot of it's time, dead. I assume that's improved over the years?

I can see a lot of my old 9-5 (that you saw at Saabnuts) in that 9000, they didn't change much.

The 316 was a co-purchase between me and a mate in 2016. We got it very cheap due to a no-reserve badly listed auction on ebay. Mate then got his own house in 2017 which is a little bit further away than convenient to share a car between us, so he eventually bought out my share in it in 2018 or so. He then let the MOT lapse and left it on his driveway with knackered rear shocks, a rough idle and a non-functioning driver's window. May 2019 rolled around and he bought yet another car and was running out of space and offered me the 316 for the original ebay purchase price. I bit his hand off at that.

Within a week of purchase I'd replaced the rear shocks, the plugs and leads, and fixed the driver's window. The worst thing you can do to a car is leave it sitting unused.

The green 320 coupe had to go to make way for the 316, but the 320 was rough as arses. It went through several members on the Beige and ended up in Cornwall! It was spotted a few months ago after being sold outside the forum. It now has massive alloys and an M3 front bumper, FFS. It's only a 320 auto!

Hey I remember you! Welcome.
I was going to say wasn't your bm base and didn't you go halfas with someone but you've answered that. I can't remember what I was doing yesterday but I seem to remember things I'm interested in no bother. The saab looks a belter.

Welcome home!

Although I'm probably going to be corrected by The Reverend Bluejeans, I seem to remember the early E36 was offered in 316e DHSS spec?

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?
