Greetings from the other side of the world

Post by TooManyPeopleMovers »

Hi All,

Like many here I suspect I've come over from over the beige...seems like there's some interesting content here.

I'm actually based in New Zealand, but we don't have much interesting, or cheap stuff, cars over here are mostly bland Japanese boxes. I salivate over the some of the motors you can indulge in the UK. What I wouldn't give to have the chance to own a Montego Countryman..

I've also come here to share the regrets of many cars I've sold that I shouldn't have.

As my user name befits, I enjoy marvellous more van-like vehicles such as..

Sadly long sold, a big regret.

Also long sold, many. Doubt I'll ever find another RVR/Space Runner like it with the miles and condition, given they have all rusted away.

The Airtrek is my current runabout...I'm a bit of Mitsubishi 4G fanatic.

Hello and welcome.
That one above looks like that hideous yank thing from breaking bad. No offence intended.

Thank you! None taken - it does have chunky American looks - influences of the Pontiac Aztek are clear. This final facelift of the Airtrek was developed to appeal to the American market. Certainly an acquired taste.

The Aztek has a 3.4 litre V6, which I imagine gives it a little more shove than the measly 2.4 litre inline 4 in the Airtrek.

Hello Mr TMPM. We've had this Covid shit over here, rubbish it is. It's fucking freezing too, that's the price we pay for being able to spot an Allegro once in a blue moon.

Worth it though. Fuck the sunshine. I'd rather see a hanging Hillman Avenger on a damp overcast morning every time.

Our winters are freezing too! Mostly windy, wet, and miserable. No snow sadly. And without even the benefit of seeing some Rootes or British Leyland chod around.

An Allegro is merely a mythical beast here...never seen one in person, though they were allegedly assembled here.

Thank you for all the welcomes!

Welcome along, there were some Montegos in NZ years ago, they might have been personal imports though. I didn't pay them much mind as I spent my time trying to find an affordable Valiant Charger or hardtop Falcon....
