Re: What did you do today?
Picked up the lads Kia Proceed GT today. Their 7 year warranty is pretty good as it was all done at no cost. I was a bit surprised with the outcome of the fault mind. It went in with lots of random warning lights coming on and the speedo and rev counter not working. It also had trouble with the powe...

Re: EBay Finds
Go on, who else thought it? I was kind of interested in that until you put that picture up and anything that twat would be interested in wouldn't be for me. I had one of those American shorty bomb trucks some years ago, they are pretty pointless as the gearing is really low and they weigh a few ton...

Re: 1974 Dolomite Sprint
I have only dealt with fibreglass wings once back in the late 80's early 90's when I put a pair on my Renault 15. They were a bloody awful fit as it seemed they were made by using an existing panel as the mould. They were just that little bit bigger in every dimension. Getting dust in my eye from al...

Re: EBay Finds
The one I used in Exeter will hopefully be in good hands as the old boy has his daughter working with him. She seems to know her stuff and being a girl in that sort of business is still hard work so she must be pretty committed to the job.

Re: EBay Finds
Thats the thing though anyone who knows how easy they are to rebuild would never pay that money but the rich money is no object types get told it has to be done by so and so and will cost x drives the price up. Finding a decent engine shop is getting harder now as half of them go for the "we ar...

Re: EBay Finds
I am not sure if it is the same but is that not the same lump as the healey 3000 ? If so the engine may well be worth that much to someone restoring one. When you read these restoration guides and they say an engine rebuild will cost 5k or whatever you may soon find a buyer if it's a decent lump. Th...

Re: What Car?
Back to wiring and excess electronics I suppose it is more down to crap quality rather than the idea. Having worked on cars since the mid 80's you never used to find ecu's filling up with oil because of poor seals allowing it to flow along cables under the insulation. I forget which model Mercedes t...

Re: What Car?
I don't know why people are scared of CAN bus equipped cars. It's a simple networked bus that has been around for literally decades. Ok you need more diagnostics tools to fix vehicles and some manufacturers go overboard with modules, but it's not that hard to diagnose and fix issues. Often easier t...
