Re: Warren's next side hustle adventure
Never had one, so can't really comment apart from its much easier to lift a damaged vehicle than drag one onto the back of a beaver tail. Other issues are towing an auto and occasionally tripping a management light on the lifted vehicle when it went back into use. That happened to me recently when m...

Re: Warren's next side hustle adventure
My 4.0 ton gross Transit Smiley weighed 2.3 ton unladen, all alloy body and ramps, husky winch and about quarter tank of fuel. 4.0t? Didn't that give you a world of grief with operators licenses, tachos and maintenance schedules for only an additional 500kg? 4 ton Tranny has a tacho fitted from the...

Re: Warren's next side hustle adventure
Make a point of the truck looking like its in decent condition, with the carried vehicle having a strap on each wheel and still attached to the winch cable. Also wear a hi-vis, that will usually just get you a look from any passing jam sandwich, rather than a pull. The main problem I ever encountere...

Re: Warren's next side hustle adventure
My 4.0 ton gross Transit Smiley weighed 2.3 ton unladen, all alloy body and ramps, husky winch and about quarter tank of fuel. Then add on me, about 14 stone and the weight of any other equipment. So a steel body 3.5 ton is close to the limit with say an old Astra size car on it. Usually you can get...

Re: EBay Finds
I can remember when they were cheap. Throughout the 80's Marina saloons were cheap as chips, also my favourite disposable transport. Buy a runner for under £100, get it mot-ed which usually involved some welding, then just drive it for 12 months, then repeat. Far easier to maintain than any of the m...

Re: EBay Finds
Having owned both previously, the Cavalier a 1.6, I preferred the Maestro.
That one is fairly close to me, but no room at the inn at the moment.
This does look rather nice, asking £5995-00p.

Re: EBay Finds
The owner is unsure if he has the engine for this, two available, offers invited, have to say the shell looks reasonable.
