Have been encouraging/ helping my son to learn how to put his bike back together, luckily we've been allowed in the kitchen

There's an oil measure incorporated into the filler cap, so it's easy to get the mix right. If it's anything like the cap on Bantams, the measure is well out for modern two smoke oils. You'll be better off doing it by known amounts & working out how much of a capful to use. Should need less mod...
