I know seatbelts are good and usually always wear one when available, but I do like the freedom of movement in cars without them.

I separated the transmission from the engine and cleaned it up. The thick layer of oily grime has no doubt helped preserve it. I think the black stuff on the Cowley is factory applied anti-drumming. It's the same inside my Nuffield factory products, inside the doors and boot wheel arches.

Yes they are tapered which makes things easier. I did it up to the specified torque and it moved quite a bit so hopefully that's it.
