Re: Jaguar Sovereign: rust and rehabilitation.
Rust is a must. Old Jags certainly think so! You'll be glad* to know that Jag kept most of those rust traps right up to the X308 for the traditional Jag owning experience. Especially the one where the footwell to sill seam rots & leaves a damp patch under your outside foot. Heritage innit!

Re: Jaguar Sovereign: rust and rehabilitation.
It was a real struggle to fit to fit the original wing back on to the car – it just wouldn’t sit right no matter was done with it. Nothing would work so the welder gave up and had a go with the new wing (part number CAP5122) and it went straight on so the old wing must have been slightly buckled. I ...

Re: Jaguar Sovereign: rust and rehabilitation.
Now I am fully embracing the Dark Wob, I thought it was time to update this thread. The posts are re-cycled from one on Pistonheads in the dim and distant past (which was itself a sanitised version of the one I made on Autoshite - so it is from the old AS, but indirectly) - hence the Photobucket pho...

Re: 1985 BMW E28 520i
Copies! Quite rare now from when the real thing cost a fortune. They used to be advertised in the back of car magazines in the '80s alongside copy versions of the Mercedes W123 alloys. Some versions were more convincing than others. Especially unconvincing were the plastic hubcaps moulded to resemb...

Re: Cars With Delete Options.
A sunroof was standard on the Daimler version of the XJ40 and could be 'delete optioned'. The Jaguar Sovereign and Daimler versions with standard leather seats and automatic transmissions could be had with cloth and a manual gearbox, but Jaguar regarded that as a 'no cost option' either way. I actua...

Re: Classic BMWs
My dad had an E28 which he bought in Jan '85. He bought it new so it would have been a 'B' reg. His was the 2.8 in Cosmos with a blue interior. It was a good looking car which drove well and I liked it, but I wouldn't say the difference between an E28 and the Mk 2 Granada 2.8 Ghia was a chasm - thou...
