More photos received today. Cages for flaps have been retrieved from inlet as well as the rod, albeit in 3 pieces. Only 1 and a half flaps found though. In his opinion the engine has likely mulched the rest of the flaps and it's been like it a few thousand miles now and done before my ownership. He'...

I can understand the plastic breaking up but not the metal though. The idle stumbling was intermittent and was rectified by unplugging egr but that put on the eml so I bought a blanking plate for it. He's going to turn engine over by hand to see how valves are tomorrow.

It runs well enough. Still capable of 120 on a private road and still pulling.
