If the world goes to shit in a spectacular way, think of London becoming a glow in the dark glass surfaced car park then simple technology might be all that is left working. Changed the ignition switch on the Lancer as it had gone from occasional not cranking to being a bloody nuisance. I think the big shift is to do with synthetic fuel.

looking at the loop of, using wind to generate power that splits water which combines with air sourced CO2 to make synthetic fuel.

If you stop at Hydrogen and put it in fuel cells you have a high density energy source
