Before you get too keen, go underneath and pull the plastic floor under trays back - someone showed me a pic of a 280 Estate that was so spectacularly rotten it was weighed in. It’s on the FB W211 group.

Mercedes were replacing SBC units free of charge and may still be doing so. They take safety recalls seriously and replaced the rotten rear subframe in our SLK FOC this year.

The E500 with the M113 V8 is the quick one. The others are adequate.

It's amazing that they are now 20 years old. The earlier W211 is a great car. 2003 petrol hopefully means an M112 V6 240 or 320, a superb engine. Post 06 'improved' engines were shite by comparison.
