Should be Leyland white with stripey deckchair trim for ‘78, wrong column stalks etc. Might even be a ringer, an 80 onwards car with an older V5 nailed on. Proceed with caution as there were no beige Minis 71-80.

The Triumph 1500 is too long a stroke for the design although the rot set in when they ‘improved’ the 1300. If it didn’t cost too much, the sensible thing would be to rebuild and fit a 1275. Fucking fords. My '99 ex royal mail escort van needed brake pipes and the sills welding on it's first mot. I watched him poke the pointy stick through it. Couldn't fucking believe it. Edit, it was four years old so might have been it's second mot. Not sure how to work it out. All cheap to fix though.

I had loads of Minis as a yoof. They were a rite of passage before moving on to better things. I made the mistake of trying to go back in time, spending thousands buying and rebuilding a 1965 1275S twenty odd years ago. At the time I had a B plate Nova 1.3SR that just shat all over it and cost £800....
