Re: EBay Finds

The standard DS420 were based on the MK 10 floor pan, so even though my MK X was ancient, lots of parts were still available as the DS420 was still current.

Re: Two wheels good.

What the fuck is 'Gepps'? A long time ago in a different life, a friend worked for the local council as a carpenter. He had never owned a car and didn't have a licence for one, rode a Z650 for fun (later a 900 Honda) but rode a C90 for work with the BIGGEST home made (wood naturally) top box you hav...

Re: Two wheels good.

I quite liked the XT500. Yes, by modern standards they have abysmal brakes, piss poor handling and vibrate like a jack hammer, but then I also had an IT 465 which could have taught the XT quite a lot about vibration/bad brakes/abysmal handling!

Re: Forgotten cars

I may have mentioned that my Step Father was the Steward of the Sunningdale Gold Club, there were many, many lovely cars in the carpark, including, a Monteverdi 375! However, I was but a callow youth and the sous chef's hot Anglia was the only car for me! Though I did rather like the first XJ6's esp...

Re: Two wheels good.

I had an XT500 as well, at the same time! I actually kept the XT long after I flogged the IT (for the sake of my health/ankles/spine) and while it was a tad smokey on the overrun, it was a delightful old plodder. It did have its foibles though and one day, while out with a few mates on the lanes, we...

Re: Two wheels good.

I have mentioned before about my IT 465. I loved that bike apart from the fact it tried to kill you, even just starting the thing was terrifying! It would wheelie and spin the back wheel at the same time and as mentioned above, the vibrations when revving a bit, were enough to knock yer fillings out!

That sounds deeply unpleasant, as they say: 'No good deed shall go unpunished'

Re: What did you do today?

Looks like the one I bought a few years ago, if so, good bit of kit. If a tad slow... Sort out the various pipes you need to go down the dipstick tube, then pump away to build up some vacuum and go and do something els while it sucks the dregs out. Worked a treat on the SLK and, according to the spe...
