Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a project thread

Having had some more thought about the carb/VTEC setup, I think it'll be fine. VTEC doesn't engage until 5500rpm on the standard setup. Remains to be seen of course but this is a common swap and I've not been able to find anything to suggest it doesn't work. https://i.ibb.co/2K3DvgR/20190428-142640....

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a project thread

In the steering wheel's defence it's better than the decrepit MX5 one that was in there, and the thing looked like leather, not painted(?) wood in the eBay ad. I might change it again yet.

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a project thread

The Volvo has been fine for a long time! The Civic hopefully will be soon. Today was productive. We started by getting the engine out of the back of the 850. The Civic looks on: https://i.ibb.co/CnwrwR4/20190427-112156.jpg https://i.ibb.co/KX2xj50/20190427-105004.jpg It's actually a really clean eng...

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a project thread

https://i.ibb.co/5nnCWhN/IMG-1513.jpg The front splitter is off a mk3 Golf GTI/VR6. £23 new on eBay, and a very easy fit as it's almost the ideal shape, once you cut the tabs off that hold it in place on the Golf, and bolt it on instead. It's possible to use a lot of existing holes in the splitter ...

Re: Reliable Honda Engine: a project thread

Twin engine Volvo's been done, someone on Retro Rides did it iirc, looked bonkers. We have skateboards and possibly an extra pair of hands, it's starting to look easy. Stripped all the useless stuff off it like a/c compressor, manifolds etc. That'll make a difference. A new Momo steering wheel turne...

So as you know I have a carburetted Civic. It's reliable*.

I plan to increase* the reliability.

Step one: how the fuck do I get this VTEC engine out of the back of the Volvo? I have a brand new Sealey 2.25 ton jack, and no engine crane.
