I did see a video of someone using a bar to move it out the way. Looking at that picture of the footwell, it looks to have a master cylinder in it. I believe you need to modify them for discs to allow fluid to return easier. No idea if this has been done. I'll probably quickly check over the lines ...

Spark plug swap on a 2.0 8v 2000 beetle. For those who don't know, this means removing the inlet manifold upper which becomes a bellend of a job due to all the shitty clips and hoses VW used and things inevitably break. Currently gluing bits of plastic back together before I put them back in the car...
