Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

I believe the boxes on these have a filter accessible. This box is one of the older purely mechanical/hydraulic controlled units. Old tech. The 4.0l got a semi mechanical/computerised unit and the R got a fully computerised unit. If I remember that correctly... I have a service manual as a PDF for t...

Re: Will Austin Rover succeed? 1985 vid, contains 1100/1300 crushing.

I always remember the squeaky rear suspension in my Dad's company car Montego Countryman. Used to drive me crazy. Didn't annoy my dad though. That was reserved for the Cavalier that broke down very often. Handily though it did have a "mobile" phone fitted in it! Plug the massive lead acid ...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Fuck, that looks like a fuck about and a half... The old wheel looks similar to the Dolly one which isn't exactly great for gripping during spirited driving, not aided by the cover detaching from the metal and being a bit twisty in places. I want to replace it with a Toledo one, which is even bigge...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Weirdly the same clips used on the OMGMGBGTBYMG tailgate for attaching the cladding are used for the R16 door cards, so imagine my surprise to be able to obtain suitable spares for my car across the street at Moss's. People whinge about the MGB and Minors being a clique classic car but they are gre...

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Just come back from a trip out to Newark Park National Trust with Mrs SiC. Lovely drive over and the car performed fine. About 40 miles round trip or so if you are wondering. Longest journey I've done in it, apart from the original drive back from buying it. Hurrah finally you say! https://uploads.t...

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

Did Jazoli or anyone else change the ATF and filter? I always felt it could have done with a change and there wasn't any record of it being changed in the last 10yr or so. Iirc it's every 30k/5yrs on it?

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Took it for another quick spin. If I release the handbrake, leave in gear and hit the handbrake lever back with a hammer then it does seem to release properly. Admittedly it wasn't a long drive (2 to 3 miles ish) but the rears were 23c and 27c respectively. I'll see what they are like after a longer...

Which reminds me, I need to fit the new sealing washers on the wiper shafts to stop the footwells from filling with water. Still not managed to find where or how water is getting into the boot either.

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

That's similar to what I was getting when driving back from Scotchland to Brizzle. Mostly doing 50-70mph (loads of roadworks). Trying my best to keep it at lockup speed.

Yeah you need to drive it harder!

Re: That awful colour MGB GT

Doesn't it look tiny in the petrol station next to that [small car . I'd be tempted to guess rear main oil seal for the leak underneath, they all do it sir. I think the early ones of these (no idea on years sorry) still had a rope seal too. I reckon that too. I think this year will be a rubber seal.
