Re: Rusty Triumphs in Scotland

Acclaim: Continues being my most functional car. Keeps losing it's idle. Radiator is fucked and I need to drive with the heater at max all the time or it'll cook itself. 277422616_566077721148027_554570394542224827_n.jpg I took it to Largs one weekend and somebody liked it so much they left a note o...

Re: What did you do today?

Imagine if the MoT was like the German TÜV test. All parts fitted to a vehicle have to match factory spec and be professionally certified for use in the Germany. So if it 'aint made in bulk in a factory for that particular model you're out of luck. No making up a part on a lathe in a machine shop, ...

Re: Fleet Occurrences

I lost the gear knob on the estate I borrowed t'other year, halfway across a junction and tore the fucking thing right off while going for second. Luckily I kept hold of it rather than firing it into the roof.

Re: Trafficators. Nuns and kittens will die.

You can get dead tiny LED flashers these days, the sort of thing you get on motorbikes. The aftermarket units that used to get shoved on during the 80s/90s are gash but some of the smaller newer stuff is practically unnoticeable unless illuminated. I'd quite like to get some centre brake lights fitt...

Re: Classic cars as investments?

I think investing in cars only work in the short term (under 10 years) if you get lucky, or over a long period if you already have the money to lose. As said earlier, factor in storage costs to keep a car in decent nick and the returns diminish quickly. Of course if you bought a nice big barn in 197...

Re: Morris Minor Ratrod

A Morris 1000 battery has fuck all to do once running apart from power a fuel pump and some rubbish lights at night. Those auxiliary gauge bulbs are going to ruin all the fun... My Dolly 1300 is on it's 4th alternator in my ownership. The one that was on the car when I bought it was very tired, you...

Re: EBay Finds

On one hand at least it's a proper Mini, not one of the later tarted up ones. On the other it's £4k and you've essentially bought the concept of a Mini with some fibreglass and rust in vaguely the right shape.

Re: 4x4 pick up things what are they like

If you drive a Hilux or L200 there is some rule that you have to drive like a complete bellend. Straddle lanes, wave in and out of traffic at 90mph and sit a half inch of people's bumpers. I don't know why , it just seems to be the done thing. The bosses at my old work up North used to run Hiluxes a...
