Re: Squire's voitures
I think I did similar on the Acclaim and Dolly, fitting both springs, roughly fitting one shoe and then prying the second shoe on rather than trying to tug the springs around on their own with pliers and screwdrivers which only ever seem to end in injury or mauled springs.

Re: EBay Finds
I've not really been looking at anything in particular as I currently have my fill of 70s and 80s cars, but the odd 50s/60s crock appeals. Essentially I want something older. The Dolly is a late 60s design, the Acclaim a late 70s one, I'd like something designed in the 50s. I try not to have cars th...

Re: EBay Finds
There was a semi-dismantled but mostly complete Wolseley 1500 up for sale the other side of Glasgow for £600 on Sunday. Sold now, but if I had off-road storage I'd have been on the phone and down to see it that afternoon. Just adding to the workload though, one more project means another one slows d...

Re: EBay Finds
Guess what? Itchy trigger finger again. Not helped by some inheritance finally coming through and burning a hole in my pocket. Rapidly firing towards maximum vehicular saturation. Whereby one person has more cars than they can conceivably use/maintain simultaneously so they all start to deteriorate...

I'm with Hobbyweld. Deposit for the bottle and just pay to have it refilled whenever.

Re: Morris Minor Ratrod
One of those cars that could technically be repaired, but unless you have massive sentimental value attached to it and almost unlimited time and money there's no real point. I'd be surprised if it hasn't twisted with moving.
You wouldn't buy it as a project, you wouldn't even take it for free...

MOT exempt m8.
Likely came off the road as a £400 rotter in 2004 and has been dissolving away in a damp garage for the last 18 years. Now back as a APPRECIATING CLASSIC ASSET.

Re: Sub Par Projects
I'm not sure if part of that is your inability to walk away from cars you're viewing? :D Acclaim and both Volvos were bought blind for significantly less than market value, I wasn't really caring. If they weren't utterly lethal I was driving them home and that was that. Dolly 1300 I got done, but n...

Re: Sub Par Projects
I just assume everybody lies about everything. Dolly 1300, sold as low mileage. Had gone around the clock and engine was fucked. 1850 was actually fairly honest but the whole car was tired Acclaim, rotten, bent MOT First 740 I bought for so little it didn't matter, but mega bent MOT. Sold for £130 t...
