Re: EBay Finds

Exactly. The same way we all need to complain and avoid places too stupid to use plates when serving food too. I was served coffee in a disposable cup at a place that had China. (Crocs, not Ed). When I refused it on the grounds that it's wasteful and unpleasant to drink out of there wasn't the slig...

Re: Me Van

To wrap up the petrol float business, I robbed a larger float from the sensor I put in my Freelander's* header tank, and here it is in petrol. IMG_20200123_123826355.jpg Tests were carried out in my scientific laboratory to make sure the tiny magnet in the float would still actuate the microswitch, ...

Re: Me Van

Low fuel warning light? That's quite a gadget for the time. Its not original, the fuel gauge was smashed and the sender was rusted away. I've used these stainless fish tank water level switches before, they've always been ok in petrol, but this one only floats in water. The tank looked rust free, b...

Re: Peugeot 306. More 306 Tomfoolery

Its a tribute to these cars that they actually last long enough to be able to rot away.

Now I'm in the tank I'll investigate why the low fuel warning light always says low fuel. (Original sender had dissolved)

The float is only buoyant in water, that would do it.

Re: Wobland Spottage

I drove one of those Oxford estates recently, it was as rough as a dog's arse but still felt good, steering was so much better than most 50's efforts.
Spare wheel location handy if you've got a load on too, but the one I really like is the previous 2 door Woody version. Alas, too pricey and rare

Re: Me Van

IMG_20200121_090613413_1.jpg Took the top off the carb and there's only a dribble of petrol in the float chamber which explains why the van came to a halt. IMG_20200120_163110873.jpg When I pulled the pipe off the carb the electric pump appeared to be working, but not a healthy spurt. I put a conta...

Re: Me Van

I went for a test drive last night and the gearing now feels about right. I took a celebratory picture on the bridge over the poetically-named 40 foot drain when the engine stopped which rather spoiled the moment. IMG_20200119_164445862.jpg Fuel was reaching the carb, but doesn't seem to be getting ...

Re: Greetings

I happen to greatly like the Marina, I had a pov spec 1.8 coupe and a '73van. They were easy to look after and just got on with the job. Bought second hand in the 70's they were a much better bet than a new one as after a few years the garage or previous owner would have finished assembling the vehi...
