Re: 1966 Plymouth Fury 3

Apparently with just a 440, the matching 727 (different bolt pattern housing) and a set of new engine mounts you too can have your very own tire shredding torque monster (480 lb-ft) and something resembling fuel economy.

Just ordered a different crank pulley. Hopefully that'll at least get me to the point I can put the water pump and alternator on.

Re: 1966 Plymouth Fury 3

Running engine really does make the most sense surely. Especially if the parts are easier & cheaper for a 440 too. Easier yes. Cheaper no. Everything big block is expensive. I'm just trying to work out what year/model accessory drive I have so I can match it up and get the correct matching part...

Re: 1966 Plymouth Fury 3

I can get a new front pulley set for about $300

Re: 1966 Plymouth Fury 3

Went to fit the alternator to see if it would line up with the pulleys. Turns out I'm missing some hardware (shims and spacers) so I'll have to order those. Between times decided to try get it to idle, which it hasn't done properly since fitting this carburetor. Thought it was the carb, then noticed...

Oil pan gasket has had it

Looks the bollocks does that....The blue sky helps, too. 20230304_180511.jpg After the sun went down low enough not to be heating the roof hot enough to provide first degree burns (there was a 3" heat haze above the roof at noon), I was able to put a shine back on the dark blue. 20230304_18125...
