The engine and drivetrain in this car are brilliant. The 2.2 diesel makes it go rather well while also sipping fuel. It just seems to be made of monkey metal underneath the car though.

Should probably update this thread then. Got the BMW's handbrake rebuilt on both sides a couple of weekends ago with a LOT of help from Lacquer Peel. Do they care? Do they fuck. They'll drive around on it until it blows out on the motorway somewhere, then replace it with the cheapest, shiniest, most plastic tyre available in that size and dither on regardless.

Part of me considers taking the E36 on some silly continental trip down to Switzerland and back, but it's 24yrs old and knocking on the door of 182k miles. I'm sure it'll be fine though.
