Re: Sub Par Cars

Those Civics were assembled in Swindon with local content including calipers. The rear calipers are notoriously bad for rust and seizing. After 10 years you just replace the caliper with the discs and pads. They are only £100 a pair new. Aye, I've got a replacement caliper to go on the left. Split_...

Yeah, we all know that saga.

The engine and drivetrain in this car are brilliant. The 2.2 diesel makes it go rather well while also sipping fuel. It just seems to be made of monkey metal underneath the car though.

Re: Sub Par Cars

Is there a cigarette lighter socket in the boot? They're usually permanent live as I found to my cost by leaving a 12v cooler running in my v70 overnight while camping at Hexham racecourse. Had to ring the rac and it cost me a packet for a bosch battery. Yep, and it's a switched live on the Civic. ...

Re: Sub Par Cars

Did you get the boot lock wiring sorted on the civic? If you did what was it? Oh, yeah. Got that sorted months ago. Ended up putting a box from a cheapy aftermarket remote locking kit inside the boot lid, powered off the 12v socket inside the boot. I have an extra fob that just opens the boot. It r...

Re: Sub Par Cars

Should probably update this thread then. Got the BMW's handbrake rebuilt on both sides a couple of weekends ago with a LOT of help from Lacquer Peel. I then spent two evenings (one for each side) adjusting it. It's now fucking sorted, plus greasing up the slider pins on the rear calipers has improve...

Re: You park like a cunt!

Not only that, but it won't be doing the tyre any good.

Do they care? Do they fuck. They'll drive around on it until it blows out on the motorway somewhere, then replace it with the cheapest, shiniest, most plastic tyre available in that size and dither on regardless.

Re: Monkey bike, Monkey ride

This makes me want to go to Switzerland again.

I've only been once, in 2016, and I was on foot.

Part of me considers taking the E36 on some silly continental trip down to Switzerland and back, but it's 24yrs old and knocking on the door of 182k miles. I'm sure it'll be fine though.

Apparently in the region of 120mph.

Reports from local residents say they saw a BMW "spinning around" on a nearby roundabout at about 2am while this very same Range Rover was parked watching them.
