Re: Sub Par Cars

Impact screwdriver acquired. How did I not buy one of these sooner? Witchcraft, I tells ye. A couple of taps with the hammer and it takes out the most horrible, rusted-in looking screws no bother. Telt yer! :P Piece of pish wi' the right weapon. Aye! It'll definitely prove a valuable addition to my...

Aye, but you never said how to do them from underneath. :P

It doesn't change the way the nut is (I think) in the engine bay.

Re: Sub Par Cars

I got the E36 back last Thursday. I've since done... not a lot. I freed off the front left brake, as that was binding just enough to be an MOT failure. It still has plenty of meat on the pads, and the piston looks brand new. The sliders were bone dry though. Plus I also scraped a load of crud out of...

Re: Sub Par Cars

Dus it do skidz now mista? I might find out another time. I just parked it up and walked away. It was a fiddly bastard of a job, as handbrake cables always are. Meanwhile, the E36 is getting its jacking points rebuilt with 5mm steel. Long after I'm dead and gone, the car will rot away and leave beh...

Re: Sub Par Cars

Rear brakes on the civic, then. Did the discs and pads the other day, plus the left rear caliper. Drilling out the retaining screws wasn't fun, but I got there. IMG_20220930_102301224.jpg However, the left handbrake cable was stretched too. I had a replacement but the job didn't look fun. I'm at the...

Re: What did you do today?

I replaced the rear discs and pads on the Civic today. Why did they use two retaining screws per disc? Then why did they make them of such shit metal that they burred when I so much as looked at them?! I ended up drilling them out. IMG_20220930_102301224.jpg IMG_20220930_151545639.jpg I also fitted ...

Re: What did you do today?

Looking again at the fails and advisories, 'sill' is menioned a lot. Probably not so bad. Got any pics? I'd get the advisory areas cleaned up and given a lick of paint. This is the offside rear corner. https://autoshite.com/uploads/monthly_2022_09/IMG_20220917_153559645_HDR.jpg.d5c86f4d91a8163335f6...

Re: What did you do today?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXZ30Hk43M0 Nobody and I mean nobody, can say 'shite' like a Scotsman. It's absolute poetry. Fuck it - get it done and keep it. They're such a nice drive and all cars rust somehow. It could be worse - you could own an E46. This is my attitude to it. Already dropping ...
