The oil separator would be under those two screws on the underside of the rocker cover. Depending on model it will be a bit of foam or a bit of foam and wire mesh. Drum, is there supposed to be an Oil Separator Foam & Mesh Filter inside the rocker box on this engine?
Pop the rocker box off and have a look see if the oil separator is OK ?

What is the oil level like?
(I had a Lister engine that used to have the oil level go up whilst running as there was a diesel leak into the sump)

It isn't the tidiest thing ever but it should function well enough. Unfortunately the gauge has become a bit sticky in the middle of its travel...
