Re: What did you do today?

Did the rear trailing arm bushes on my mothers ‘59 plate Fiesta, a common issue on modern Fords apparently. Failed it’s MOT on them last week, Ford quoted £350 to fix. Got the bushes (genuine Ford) for £42 and £25 for the tool to press them in, so a fairly productive and cost saving afternoon.

Re: Company Wob In Your First Job.

First job I had with a company car was the job before the job I’m in now, and was a brand new, at the time, Vauxhall insignia It was an ok lump of car which got from A to B and back to A again, but other than that not a lot to say about it. It was adequate at being a car, and I had a fuel card which...

Re: Cars That Totally Refuse to Die

I more usually have cars that are begging to die and end up keeping them alive against their will, costs mounting up to the point of no return, where I have to pay the next bill to justify all the previous bills.

I’m not usually the first owner of a car, but I’m quite often the last

Re: Cars That Totally Refuse To Be Fixed.

Allegedly they were fun at some point, this one was not. Replaced it with another French hot-ish hatch to get my kicks, which is also currently broken

Re: Cars That Totally Refuse To Be Fixed.

A Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi I had, actually quite recently in relative terms. Just would not run right, replaced the distributor, ignition module, fuel pump, head gasket and everything else that was suggested to me at the time but it still misfired and ran like shit, to the point it was almost undriveable...

Re: Furious Fleet Update -

The other thing letting it down which I'd decided I was OK with, and then later decided I was not OK with was the wheels, they were pretty tatty and the guy I bought it from noted they needed a refurb in his ad. I don't think I have any pics showing the true state of the,, but they were a mess. So I...

Re: Furious Fleet Update -

Tyres and Suspension The main reason you'd by a 'hot' French hatch for track days is their legendary handling and reliability. No wait, just handling...but a previous owner had fitted this particular example with some horrific budget brand which not only had I never heard of, but were also completel...

Re: Furious Fleet Update -

Yeah that's exactly it, at the time I was doing a 60 mile a day commute and just wanted something newish, reliable, economical, comfy etc and I actually really like the looks of the Mk5. Circumstances have changed since then due to Covid, I'm now permanently based at home, going into the office only...

Furious Fleet Update -

When I previously departed these shores I was rocking a 2004 Mondeo ST220 and a 1984 Mk2 Granada. Although I don't for one minute regret buying the Granada I never really clicked with it, it was slow, thirsty, wallowy, temperamental, needed jump starting and the tyres blowing up every time I got it ...
