Re: Pineappling Pursuits.

I've cooked VW sausages. They were given to me & they were OK. I followed the link to find that they cost ten pounds for five. They are not worth anything like that sort of money, they are just a simple bratwurst thing.

Re: What did you do today?

Today I booked my old Scirocco in for a service & a cam belt & a gearbox mount & some additional scruffy paint. Chap seemed a little bemused that I wanted it to be mechanically spot on, but I didn't care about the paint looking shit. I just wanted a couple of rusty blebs cutting out &...

Re: Pineappling Pursuits.

Thank you, the boot lid is stock 1303, the wings are 2inch banded to cover 7inch & 9inch Cookie Cutters. The engine is a proper oddity; the original 1285 case, but wearing 1641 barrels & pistons, a cam shaft that's just lumpy enough to make it run unevenly at 30mph in top & a pair of del...

Re: Pineappling Pursuits.

I'll just show you this picture of my properly pineappled Beetle, which I've owned since 1985. It's a 1303 Superbeetle with the MacPherson front struts & a curved screen. the suspension is all but identical to that used on the 924/944. The front struts on mine are actually early 944 items, compl...

Re: The Crappy Hamper Thread

I see what you're saying, but the roof only raises to its fullest opening, there's no half way stage. The bellows do look a bit slack in that picture. I've since had them made much tighter. I suspect that it's also a bit of an illusion caused by a very strong wind.

Re: What did you do today?

I bought it at 19 yrs old, 2 elderly owners, 64,000 miles & never had a cam belt! A cam belt/VIS Motor check & most importantly, a proper tightening of the accelerator cable later, it was something like I hoped it would be. It's nothing like as wafty as an XJ-8, but it's a bloody effortless ...
